Start of a small series about a local phenomenon typical for the area where I live.
Known as "B?n", "Bude", "Trinkhalle" or "Kiosk", it is probably the equivalent of the English corner shop (which reminds me to listen to The Jam's excellent "Man In The Cornershop" again).
Accidentally I just heard in the local news that today also marks the first opening of a new franchise/convenience store chain which aims to ultimately replace the classic "B?n". Bah! They look more like gas stations with their horrible uniformed interiors.
