Sometimes you find inspiration in the most unlikely of places. Paris, New York, Tokyo, London, Cuba, Morocco, Charleroi. All full of opportunities. But the neighbouring town of Gelsenkirchen puts them all to shame. I do not believe there is a more suitable location in the world for photographing the most beautiful ugliness.
