These miniature churches can be found in all shapes and colours along the roads of Crete. Here's one somewhere in the middle of the mountains.
...are now 13. And I'm back, shocked by the cold and ready to bore the pants off you with holiday pictures.
Another detail of the City Statue.

This photo was chosen to be published in Bernard Azulay's "Arsenal All 4-1". I took it back in May during the Champions Parade in Islington. It's not particularly good but led to my name being mentioned in the credits alongside Arsene Wenger's. What more could you ask for in life?
The book will be in the shops in a week from today. So everybody buy it here.
I'm off for a few days in an attempt to prolong the summer. Autoblog mode is on, comments will be approved once I'm back or when I get a chance to sneak into an Internet Cafe.
Please treat this humble blog gentle in my absence.
"Pommesbuden" are Germany's answer to Fish & Chips shops. Well, at least in this area.
And here now is the Queen of Pommesbuden, Profi Grill, in Bochum-Wattenscheid. The owner actually used to be a decorated chef before he decided it was time to move back to his roots. So now it's Currywurst and Bohnensalat (both highly recommended) again instead of some fancy girlie food.
Anyway, it really is "lecker" and it is also part of Lyssa's grand prize.
Tom, before the ceremonial part last Saturday.
In his hand: Fiege Pils.
Simone, after the ceremonial part last Saturday.
On the left: The late Andy Warhol.
International culture event of the "Soziale Liste Bochum" party for the upcoming city council elections.
Felt like right back in the early 80s, promoting Socialism with "hand made" Blues. Oh well...
Just a photo of Konstantin and a pump would be a bit poor, wouldn't it?
So for today, here's a photo of a nice window as a bonus.
Good News. There were still people left in the room when we finished our gig. In fact, our rendition of U2's "One" surprisingly was one of the highlights of the party. Most surprisingly for me, since I'm usually not that big a fan of U2, to say the least. But it was the bride's wish and so we gladly added it to the playlist. Another favourite was "Nights In White Satin". Hey, it was a wedding, after all...
Oh, and the recording machine was broken, honest.
For the first time since roughly 15 years I did a band practice today (yesterday, actually, since it's now past 1am that I'm typing this).
Today there's gonna be another wedding, but this time one I'm actually looking forward to. Since it's one of my oldest and closest friends, I agreed to dust off the Jazz Bass for a spontaneous gig. So we used the Shamrock's pratice room for at least one go through the rather demanding playlist.
The room was boiling hot, the toilets sub standard, my fingers are bleeding, we were mostly out of tune... I didn't have so much fun since many moons. I just recommend everybody attending today to get drunk fast before we'll enter the stage.
Soul Jazz Records on Broadwick Street.
Another classic London record store. Still tons of excellent vinyl. Highly recommended.
After filling your bags with good grooves here, I recommend a pint or two inside the John Snow, just a few steps away.
Just one of the great records I bagged during my last visit:
An extraordinary collection of early Boogie tunes.
The Old Harbour Authority Office in Dortmund at night.
Orbiter 3 inside the Gasometer, Oberhausen.
This thing is hUUge! There is a lift on the hull of the Gasometer and you can travel all the way up to a platform to see the Orbiter from above. This was absolutely amazing. Traveling up and down felt like being in some Star Trek movie. The one in which they approach the docked Enterprise in a shuttle.
Needless to say I nearly wet my pants, because I'm such a wuss when it comes to heights.
Abandoned steelworks Phoenix West, Dortmund.
