Bochum's newest tube station - still under construction - and Germany's sole underground bridge.
Germany's Federal Minister of Economics and Labour, Wolfgang Clement, visiting his hometown.

There was a rather long discussion whether a demonstration of (neo) fascists against the construction of a new synagogue here in Bochum planned for today should be allowed or not.
Last week the courts ruled that yes, it should take place. In my opinion this was the right deciscion. And now f*** them and the horses they rode in on.
Hansnpansn is such an obscure word and so typical for the area I come from that nobody living 50 KM North, South, West or East would be able to understand it. Plus it's not translatable into any language.
Formerly used and now on display at the same colliery that served as yesterday's picture source.
can be found in front of the Zeche Hannover - the " Westfälische Industriemuseum" - which opened its 2004 season today and which is most excellent and interesting.

I just planned to take some test shots today to play around with DRI.
This is what came out and I feel like sharing it because it's actually surprisingly good for a first try.
As usual, click on the image to get a bigger version.
For a rundown on DRI (Dynamic Range Increase) go here.
Sunday is not only Pinhole Day but it's also the day of the Ruhr Marathon which will pass through Bochum. Let's see how I can combine them.
Apparently some people I know will follow the blue line for either the half or the full distance. Blimey.
Chinese Garden in Bochum. Taken with the ZeroImage Zero 2000. Did I already mention that I love this camera?
Outdoor season in Bochum opened officially yesterday.
Concession stand decorations at the Easter fun fair, Bochum.
I usually don't care much for flower macros but took these in the Botanical Garden in Bochum on Easter Monday.
I also took some shots in the Chinese Garden but it was so crowded that there wasn't even a spare second to compose a picture without somebody standing on your toes. Maybe the pictures taken with the Pinhole come out okay. We'll see when the roll comes back.
Okay, today is Lubitel Day. So here's a nice detail of the Schauspielhaus Bochum.
Tomorrow will be Pinhole Day.
Schlegel Brewery in Bochum. Taken by somebody in my family, probably in the early 50s by my late grandfather. It's still where it used to be back then but no beer is being produced there anymore.
Schlegel beer had a small revival recently. Trying to cash in on some sort of nostalgia?
I still prefer Fiege very much, though.
Advert for the Schauspielhaus Bochum inside Bochum's Central Station.
The first roll from the Zero 2000 came back today and I have to say I'm actually quite pleased with the outcome.
It's quite clear I have to work on the composition a bit, and more precise exposure plus the use of a tripod will undoubtedly lead to better results. Nevertheless I think for a first try the pictures are okay-ish. I really love this camera.
Here's a first gallery.
While writing this, the camera is standing in the cold outside, taking a picture of the moon with a really long exposure time. What fun.
I went to the Eisenbahnmuseum in Bochum early today.
Here is the gallery. I also took some shots with the Zero 2000 Pinhole. Just another week to see how they come out. Whoo-hoo for film! They're probably no good anyway, since I didn't take a tripod and had to place the box on tracks and stuff, calculating exposures with the help of my Powershot A80. We'll see.
Stadtpark Bochum on the first real day of spring.
Some examples from my first roll. And yes, I have now removed the frame and the next roll will be the full 6x6. And b&w.
Another local Record Store in Bochum. Sadly they dropped most of the Vinyl since long. Their plus is being a ticket shop for many venues so I bought tickets to see Tigerbeat on Friday, February 13 in Essen.
Record Store photography. What an excellent idea. That's what I'll do.
Starting off with my local favourite Discover Music here in Bochum. The shot is not as good as I wanted it to be but it had to be taken in a hurry.
Why in a hurry? Because you look like a total weirdo standing in the street and taking pictures of a record store. That's why.
That's also what the owner told me when I entered the shop after finishing my quick photo session. But hey! I'm a customer for longer than the current younger clientele have been able to walk upright. And I still buy Vinyl. That surely must give me the right to be a bit weird.
Anyway, I seriously plan to produce a photo gallery of record stores I have frequented over the quarter of a century I'm now buying music. Record Stores have to be documented as long as there are still some around.
And here is what I bought today:
Tigerbeat - 13 Songs (Vinyl Album)
Missy Elliot - This Is Not a Test (Vinyl Album)
Ryan Adams - Love Is Hell pts. 1&2 (10" Vinyl Album)
